My Boring Saturday
New Maeil Indian Lassi drink. More sweet than "mango."
But I lived with an Indian guy for a year, so I'm a snob.
Wasn't really in the mood for 50 cent baby octopus:
Don't you love happy older folk?
After teaching all morning, I met the guy I do a language exchange with.
He's actually becoming a good friend which makes it a bit weird
when he gets a wallet out to pay me:
We got iced caramel lattes at Coobuck. When you order hot coffee,
the waitress serves it in china cups. My old boss at the Brockville Museum
(Bonnie Burke) would be pleased! Aileen, remember when she insisted tea
tastes better from real china? Such a lady.
Most students have to wear uniforms to school (even on a Saturday):
I put my foot in my mouth a few times while discussing Korean culture,
but he seemed to think I was funny anyway:
Getting dirty looks for being camera intrusive (for YOUR benefit!):

Please stop drinking the water Eva. It is starting to effect your judgement. Your foot is not a chew toy.

WOW I can not believe they really have you working Saturdays! Here the majority of us don't even work on Fridays...I hope you survive
Thanks Youngman ; )
Hey Gabe,
Yeah it's pretty crazy. Actually I'm going to teach intensives for the next 2 months which means 10AM to 9PM (11 hours of teaching) PLUS Saturdays.
I have no life! I'm tired all the time.
Is that Indian restaurant in Itaewon still there (Ashoka, I think)? There was a Pakistani place right behind it that was slightly cheaper, too.
Oh, what great photos, Eva! Your pics make me want to visit Suwon and my students who are from there!
I'd also like to go to Jeju Island someday. Have you ever been there? My students always tell me that it's the Korean "Hawaii"!
PS. Is that a "choco pie" I see beside your Indian lassi??? ;)
haaha... yes it is a choco pie. You can buy individual ones for like 30 cents!
YES, Jeju Island. I've been invited to stay at the home of a female coworker who was born there.
I still can't get over how small this world feels sometimes.
I've only been to Itaewon one time. I should go back and try out a few restaurants, like the ones you mentioned, Helena.
There's an Indian restaurant in Suwon but it serves stuff like spaghetti, so it can't be authentic.
I found Itaewon slightly creepy. Those restaurants are good, though! (rather expensive)
